In cooperation with the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, the Noor al-Hassan (peace be upon him) Charitable Foundation holds a festival honoring outstanding orphan students
The Noor Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) Charitable Foundation, in cooperation with the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, held a ceremony honoring high-achieving students from among orphans and children of underprivileged families.
Marking its thirteenth year, the event took place at the Sheikh Al-Kulayni Complex—affiliated with the Holy Shrine—under the theme: "Our orphans are creative; through knowledge, they rise; and through excellence, they shine." The ceremony honored 500 orphaned students who had achieved academic success and distinction.
The event began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the reading of Surah Al-Fatiha in tribute to the souls of Iraq’s martyrs. This was followed by a speech from the Foundation’s General Supervisor, His Eminence Sayed Ahmed Al-Safi—delivered on his behalf by Sheikh Salah Al-Karbalai—and an address by the Foundation’s President, Sayed Issa Al-Hassani.
Al-Karbalai stated that caring for orphans and underprivileged families is a top priority for the Supreme Religious Authority. This commitment is embodied in the establishment of dedicated care organizations, such as the Al-Ayn Foundation and the Noor Al-Hassan Charitable Foundation, the latter having been founded over thirteen years ago.
He added that the academic excellence achieved by the children of this demographic is the natural fruit of this care and attention. For his part, the head of the foundation, Mr. Issa Al-Hasani, stated that the ceremony honoring high-achieving orphan students serves to recognize their academic excellence and reflects a commitment to fostering productive individuals capable of serving their community. The initiative also provides scholarships as well as future training and employment opportunities. This support has already resulted in the graduation of orphans across various disciplines—a testament to the foundation's efforts in providing both financial and moral care.
He added that the foundation supports approximately 1,000 orphans and 500 families in the holy city of Karbala, alongside its branch in the holy city of Najaf, which cares for over 600 orphans and 500 families. These branches provide social, educational, and cultural support, in addition to assisting widows and offering suitable housing within the Al-Zahra (peace be upon her) Complex.
Al-Hasani further noted that the foundation is working to open the Al-Hasan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Charitable Complex in the Al-Bubiyat area of Karbala. Spanning an area of over 2,500 dunams, the complex comprises 32 homes and various service facilities, all part of the foundation's efforts to provide a suitable living environment for the families of orphans.
The festival featured a variety of student activities and concluded with the distribution of blessed gifts to the orphan students.
