The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine calls for participation in the funeral procession for the remains of the sixth group of martyrs from the Badush Prison massacre

The Iraqi Center for Documenting Extremism—affiliated with the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine—has called upon all segments of society to participate in the funeral procession for the sixth group of martyrs from the Badush Prison massacre. The ceremony will take place at the Rawdat Al-Kafeel Cemetery in the Governorate of Najaf.

The funeral ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and will be attended by the martyrs' families as well as individuals interested in documentation and human rights issues.

Dr. Abbas Al-Quraishi, Director of the Center, stated: "The funeral ceremony is being held under the auspices of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Forensic Medicine and the Department for the Protection of Mass Graves and Missing Persons. This initiative reflects the commitment to addressing the issue of the massacre's victims, honoring their memory and the injustice they suffered, and paying tribute to their families after years of waiting and following up on their loved ones' cases."

He added: "The proceedings will begin on Wednesday morning with the receipt of the martyrs' remains from the Department of Forensic Medicine in Najaf. Participants will gather at 10:00 AM at the start of Al-Tusi Street (Al-Tawdee' Square) before the funeral procession sets off toward the Imam Ali's (p) Holy Shrine, where funeral prayers will be performed over the remains."

He further explained: "Following the funeral procession and prayers, the remains will be transported to the Rawdat Al-Kafeel Cemetery for the burial ceremony and interment in their final resting place." The organization of the funeral ceremony is part of efforts to document crimes of extremism and terrorism and to commemorate the victims who lost their lives in the Badush Prison massacre, thereby contributing to preserving the national memory and documenting the crimes to which the victims were subjected.
