The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine participated in the Fourth Date Varieties Exhibition, organized by the College of Agriculture at the University of Karbala under the theme "Our Date Palms, Our Identity."
Engineer Ali Muz'al Layidh, Deputy Head of the Second Southern Green Belt Department at the Holy Shrine, stated that the Shrine's participation aimed to gain insight into the current state of date palm cultivation and to exchange expertise and perspectives with specialists regarding ways to develop the sector and advance agricultural practices.
He added that the Holy Shrine’s pavilion showcased several of its affiliated entities and sites, including the Al-Kafeel Company for Public Investments (represented by its date processing plant), the Second Southern Green Belt Department, the Al-Kafeel Nurseries Group, and the Al-Saqi Farms, among other sites specializing in date palm cultivation and production.
He explained that the participation provided an opportunity to connect with agricultural specialists and discuss agricultural experiences, as well as methods for improving date palm cultivation and date production.
For his part, Dr. Kadhem Mohammed Abdullah, the College’s Vice Dean, remarked: "The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine's participation in the exhibition is outstanding, particularly through the presentation of the Al-Saqi Farm's experiences and its products, which include a wide variety of date types."
The exhibition aims to introduce various date varieties and cultivation experiences, highlight the importance of date palms as part of the governorate's agricultural identity, and foster communication among agricultural institutions, academic bodies, and specialists in the field.
