What is the opinion of the Grand religious authority, Sheikh Al-Najafy (may Allah prolong his life), regarding the story of the wedding of Al-Qasim son of Al-Hasan (PBUH) in Karbala—affirming it or denying it?
Answer
In the name of Allah, it has not been established with any reliable chain of transmission. We must pay attention to the fact that the tension and confrontation between the companions of Al-Hussein (PBUH) and the wretched enemy forces had already begun from the third of Muharram, and water was cut off from Al-Hussein (PBUH) and his companions days before the final battle. Is it conceivable that anyone would think about marriage under such circumstances? As for the claim that it was a bequest of Imam Al-Hasan (peace be upon him), is it reasonable to say that Al-Hussein (PBUH)—Allah forbid—was unaware of his brother’s will? And was Al-Qasim, Allah forbid, negligent of his father’s will? Reflect, O people of understanding. Yes, this story is mentioned in some unreliable books. Therefore, if we see in some Shia communities an interest in this narrative, we do not judge them harshly as long as their practice stems from their love for the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH). Allah is the Guide, and He knows best.
