Some Muslim female students are taught by male professors in universities and elsewhere. The professor usually has to explain the curriculum while standing in front of the female students who are sitting in chairs and are looking at him as usual without intending pleasure. Is it permissible to continue looking in this case if it is for the purpose of paying attention and listening to the lecture?

In the name of Allah, if learning is obligatory and depends on uncovering the face, then it is permissible. This is a rare case, and one can avoid looking directly by diverting the gaze away from the opposite side. Allah knows best.
