What is the ruling on eating inside the mosque?

In the name of Allah, if one is not compelled to eat, it is preferable to avoid it out of respect for the mosque. However, food distributed to participants in a religious gathering or a mourning session for the Imam (peace be upon him) may be eaten. Allah knows best.
