If the ruling for doubting whether I completed one or two prostrations is to perform another, when should this additional prostration be done—after the doubt or after the prayer?

In the name of Allah, you should perform the second prostration during the prayer, as long as you have not entered the bowing (rukūʿ) of the next rakʿah. Allah knows best.
