Is it permissible to recite the Quran in English, because when reading the Arabic Quran written in English letters, we might make mistakes in the recitation?
Answer
In the name of Allah, it is permissible to translate the Quran into any language, provided that the translator is proficient in Arabic to avoid mistakes in conveying the meaning of words. However, the translation should not be printed independently of the original Quranic text; the original Arabic text must remain alongside the translation of each verse. It is not permissible to recite the Quran in any language other than the original Arabic in prayer. It is also not permissible to recite the Quran in Arabic using a different expression and then attribute it to Allah and pray with it. It should be understood that a translation into any language or an explanation of a verse in any language is not considered the Quran. The Quran is the text known to all Muslims, beginning with Surah Al-Fatiha and ending with Surah An-Nas. Allah is the Guide.
