Is it permissible to name a person with their mother if the father is unknown?

Answer

In the name of Allah, if you mean to mention only the mother when stating the person’s lineage, there is no objection, and the father remains unknown. But if you intend to make the mother act as the father, that is falsehood, and the liar is cursed in the Qur’an. Allah is the Guide.
