My father passed away a few months ago, may Allah have mercy on him. He left behind three sons, a wife, and a mother, who are the rightful heirs according to Islamic law. The problem is that my uncles are hiding the news of my father’s death from my grandmother, claiming they fear for her health. Because of this, we -the children of the deceased and his wife- cannot legally act regarding our inheritance, since our grandmother is unaware of her son’s death and therefore unaware of her share. The question is: Is it permissible for my uncles, according to Islamic law, to conceal the news of their brother’s death from their mother, especially considering that they benefit from this situation, since her share of the inheritance would pass on to them after her death, God forbid?
