Does a woman have seminal fluid (mani), and what is the ruling regarding the fluid that comes out during sexual arousal? Does it necessitate ghusl (ritual purification)?
Answer
In the name of Allah, a woman does have seminal fluid, which she discharges upon reaching the peak of sexual climax. This has been authentically reported in the narrations from the Infallibles (peace be upon them) and confirmed by skilled physicians. If the fluid is discharged in conjunction with the climax, then ghusl becomes obligatory. It should be noted that the discharge of seminal fluid in women differs from that in men. Typically, a man ejaculates fluid in spurts immediately upon reaching the peak of pleasure. In contrast, a woman reaches climax, experiences a brief period of calm, and then the thin, slightly yellowish or cloudy fluid exits slowly—not in spurts like in the case of a man. Allah is the All-Knowing.
