What is the opinion of the Shiites regarding Tatbeer (Tatbeer is an Arabic term which means hitting the head with knives or sharp instruments and/or hitting the chest or back with chains having small razors. In either way, blood is shed)?

In the name of Allah, I have said repeatedly that you can practice Tabbeer, only if the doctor prevents you or comes to know that it will lead to your death or according to the opinion of an experienced doctor that patient suffering incurable disease. In such cases, you are not allowed to practice this act. Allah knows best.
