Hadith 47-38

حَدَّثَنا أَحْمَدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى العَطَّار قالَ حَدَّثَني أَبي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ‏مهران أَنَّهُ كَتَبَ إِلَى الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَاللَّهَ لابْنٍ لَهُ فَكَتَبَ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ إِلَيْهِ وَهَبَ اللَّهُ لَكَ ذَكَراً صَالِحاً فَمَاتَ ابْنُهُ ذَلِكَ وَوُلِدَ لَهُ ابْنٌ.

Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Attar - may God be pleased with him - narrated that his father quoted on the authority of Muhammad ibn Isa, on the authority of Musa ibn Mehran, “I wrote to Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) and asked him to pray for my (ill) son. The Imam (a.s.) wrote me back, ‘God will grant you a good son.’ My son died and I was given another son.”
