Hadith 6-21

حَدَّثَنا أَبي‏ رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا عَلِىُّ بْنُ إِبراهِيمَ بْنِ هاشِمٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبي الخَطَّاب الزَيَّاتِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الفُضَيْلِ الصَّيْرَفيِّ، عَنْ أَبي حَمْزَةَ الُّثمالِيِّ، عَنْ أَبي جَعْفَرٍعَلَيْهِمَا السَّلاَمُ قالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَرْسَلَ مُحَمَّداً إِلى الجِنِّ وَالإِنْسِ، وَجَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ اثْنِي عَشَر وَصِيّاً مِنْهُمْ مِنْ سَبَقَ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ بَقِيَ، وَكُلُّ وَصِيٍّ جَرَتْ بِهِ سُنَّةِ، وَالأَوْصِياءِ الَّذِينَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ عَلَى سُنَّةِ أوَصِياءِ عِيسَى‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَكانُوا اثْنِي عَشَر، وَكانَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنينَ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ عَلَى سُنَّةِ الْمَسِيحِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ.

(The author of the book narrated) my father - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashem quoted on the authority of his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Isa ibn Obayd and Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abil Khattab al-Zay’yat, on the authority of Muhammad ibn al-Fozayl al-Seyrafi, on the authority of Abi Hamza al-Somali that Abi Ja’far (a.s.) said, “Indeed the Honorable the Exalted God appointed Muhammad to the Prophethood over genies and men. He established twelve Trustees after him some of whom lived before, and some who are yet to come. There is a certain tradition for each and everyone of the Trustees. The Trustees after Muhammad (a.s.) acted upon the same tradition on which the twelve Trustees of Jesus (a.s.) [17] did. The Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) acted upon the same tradition as the Messiah (a.s.) did.”
